Star Fox Zero Aftermath Comic by SmashFan1367 Star Fox Zero Aftermath Comic by SmashFan1367
I believe we all know the story of Star Fox Zero's Game reviews and sells are a slap in the face and laughing stock cause Zero is yet another N64 title. I have problems with SF Zero for similar, but different reasons then everyone else. Rage  It's not much on the motion controls, though it would've been better if it was old-school without motion control like the previous games. No my biggest problem is the 1 I said before and will say again is the lack of an actual sequel and Krystal. Come on Nintendo, you can do better then this... You proved that with Assault and it was great, but this is just a big slap in the face to me. Stupid Me!  Thanks to you and your stupid decisions, I fear we won't see a new game for a long time (which I don't want to go through again just like what happened after Command's release. Tears No, I disagree! Fear

There you go: Zero in a nutshell. That is how a good series goes down the drain.

Hey Nintendo was dumb enough to make another SF64 title. So what I can't accept it, I grew up with Adventures and Assault, not SF64.

True. We needed a remake of Adventures or some Adventures-esque series for Krystal telling about her past. Oh, and what happened to Fay, Miyu, Kit (AKA "Yaru de Pon", 64 Trainer Guy), Bear, and Denslar (Dunno Bear and Denslar? That's the point!)? We never deserved some extra-cheesy, horribly made re-whatever by a company that doesn't even properly know the series, a re-whatever that was made just to get easy money and make the fandom more upset/mad/hopeless than it already is, with a side of ugly, poorly-made "uncle Toad" character starring is some type of "Five Nights at Freddy's" knockoff. Man, I think that even we fans could do things better than them, honestly.

Here's my opinion. Star Fox Zero isn't a bad game. But it isn't a good game either. I don't mind the creators going back to the roots (IN GAME MECHANICS) But I don't like the sudden set back in story. If they continued on from one of the story endings from Command. I would be happy knowing that A: Krystal is in the game. B: I see a new story plot for the franchise. To just pack up and go back to the beginning like that would put any lover of Star Fox off depending if you're a fan of the old Star Fox games or the new.

Now! There is a way for Star Fox Zero to become popular. Nintendo announced that they would be doing movie production. If they showed a timeline that links Command to Star Fox Zero (For example: Fox is sent back in time by Andross's new time machine from the past. Meaning an alternative timeline) They can then at least gain some popularity for Star Fox Zero, plus. They can introduce the villain for the Star Fox Zero sequel at the end of the Movie. What do you guys think.

Also one other thing I wanted to bring out and this is not directed with any ill intent towards The legend of Zelda. But Have you guys noticed that over the recent years Zelda has had more games coming out than Star Fox. It makes me wonder.

It's nice you think Zero is decent. I think Zero is decent too, but it's not what I wanted as a game title. At first yes, but when Zero was announced it killed the mode by being another N64 game. Also, here's 1 problem with this idea of your.
1st is that Command is still not canon to the story line yet (and I doubt we'll see it ever happen).
2nd, most of the endings from Command are really crappy (except for Goodbye Fox and Krystal and Lucy) and lead to different possibilities for the next sequel (again, I doubt we'll see anything from it).
3rd, nothing is gonna get Zero more popular without multiplayer (both off and on-line), without some gameplay mechanics like actual on-foot missions, without opinions to turn off motion controls, and a bunch more.
I'm not sure if you checked out my gallery/journal entries on ideas for the next Star Fox game (outside of the videos on youtube I did), but I do have ideas and concepts for Nintendo to make Star Fox a big name franchise. Clearly right now, they're falling apart at the moment with some poor sells and average reviews on some games like Zero.

That's some valid points. Plus calling Zero, 64 U. Is exactly what it is. I was having really high expectations myself since Star Fox 64 got a remake on the 3ds. I thought that the wii u would be the bomb. but. Nothing more that a copy and paste and put motion controls on.
Remember that rumor about Star Fox doing a crossover with metroid. If that game came to wii u. That would've been a much better game.

Let me ask you. What would be the perfect Star Fox game.

Yeah I did remember the rumor on the crossover. But remember about the rumor about the 3 Assault voice actors were supposed to reprise their roles after 8-9 years from Assault and partly 6 years from Brawl, before Smash Bros 4 came out several months later? I wished that rumor was true, and actually replaced the crappy voices in SSB4. Heck, I even wish that someone out there could make a voice mod for SSB4.

As for a perfect Star Fox game to me, well it's a little hard to say. I'll say the best way for a perfect Star Fox game, it would have to be like Star Fox Assault (favorite SF game) for many reasons. In my eyes to make it perfect, add in a lot more to Assault's gameplay, and modes. Take Halo for example, as the games went on they add in concepts and ideas (weapons, vehicles, stages, gadgets, different modes, multiplayer, and more). I did do a pic on the gameplay idea and a journal entry on Zero's disappointment (not sure if you checked it out). I'll leave a link for you to check them out, and have more coming soon in my gallery.

So let ask you the same thing. What would be the perfect Star Fox game to you?

Similarly  hard to say. But, All I want in a Star Fox game is for the character to be brought to life. Like how Star Fox Adventures and Assault did. And I want more intel on Krystal's back story. If a day comes that they do a game with Krystal and about her home planet. I would be complete. XDXD

As for game mechanics. I'd say an open world would be great. Like No man's sky. Where you can go to any planet of the Lylat system that you want. I mean Zelda is doing that. So Star Fox can do that too.

Plus I would like the ability to exit in and out of the Arwing, not just when the mission tells you too. Like you can choose between land or air. Oh! And I want them to add a tactical mechanic too. Where you can deploy units or even choose who to take with you when you do missions. Plus depending on who you take will affect how the mission plays out because each character has a special ability. So instead of having Slippy shouting for "HELP" You can have him customize your shield generators for the Arwing or provide a safe barrier around you for a limited time. You know, don't just leave the characters on the screen but include them in the gameplay.

How's that for the perfect game.

Your idea sounds unique, and similar to mine. I'll say it's a good idea. Yeah, I forgot to say that I like the characters to be brought to life by having more details on their life and motivations (besides their backstory). Also, yeah I like to see Nintendo do a game on Krystal's backstory but it needs to be something emotional and dark like Halo Reach (as Krystal somehow know Andross from beginning of Adventures). Another thing would be (well unique) is the character's vehicles customized like you said like in Command, cause having the same vehicle can just be a bit bland and boring (not saying it's bad) along with gadgets and weapons. That and the ability to either give commands to teammates when in trouble and or do Co-Op in story mode. Wasn't sure what you thought of my idea.

Your ideas are also unique as well. But I guess I've grown used to how nintendo works so. As long as Krystal is in the game then that would be great. I remember seeing on the nintendo site that developers and fans could give ideas on games that could be made real. Who knows, if you submit your ideas to Nintendo they might consider it. I know this is just wishful thinking but who know if you don't try.

If you ask me, this happens when you only listen to the nostalgia purists. The most ironic thing is that a graphic  from Famitsu ( static1.gamespot.com/uploads/o… ) shows that even Star Fox Adventures, the game that divided the fandom (and an abomination according to their haters) had better initial sales although to go against the franchise spirit, thing respected by Assault.

I actually did enjoy Starfox Zero. It is now my 4th favorite entry in the series. Number 1 will always be SF 64, then comes Adventures(number 2) and Assault(number 3). My only gripe that I have with the game is the forced motion controls. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind playing the game with motion controls and now I know how to play the game there. But the forced motion controls is what bothered me a bit. Also, the game came out on perhaps one of Nintendo's worst selling consoles. But at the same time it may not be such a bad thing there. Now do I think that we'll see another game in the series in the future and likely on the NX? I don't see why not and I can see a new game in the series come out on the NX. Kimishima did say that he is intending to place in every Nintendo IP onto the NX from Mario, Zelda, Starfox, Donkey Kong, Metroid(another series that I believe that we'll get another game on after Federation Force) and the likes.

The only thing is that we'll have to wait for a few years before we get a new Starfox game again. I'm sure we'll get a new one and hopefully on the NX in the future. But I don't see Nintendo killing off the series. I have yet to see an actual established Nintendo IP getting killed off. If they do that to the SF series, then they may as well get rid of Fox from Smash. But like I said, I don't see that happening at all of the series getting offed.

Well it's nice you enjoy Zero, but to me it's just not strong as the previous games. Despite having good music, graphics and designs, but it doesn't change the fact it lost potential after being revealed and released to me. I was hoping for Assault 2, but no... It's another N64 title. In fact I like to call Zero N64 U. It's really getting old and I want an new sequel with Krystal, actual on-foot missions, and so much more. You might find me coming out as a whiner, but no I'm disappointed with what we got in the end, plus I don't want good Nostalgia (Adventures and Assault) to be scrapped from the series.

Well obviously. As for Miyamoto, don't get me wrong. I respect him and like him as the face of Nintendo. If it weren't for him, we wouldn't have gotten Mario, Zelda, Starfox, F-Zero and Donkey Kong as IPs. Anyway, like what he did for Mario and Zelda that he has handed them over to his team of younger developers, he is going to have to do the same thing with Starfox which is time for him to step down. So yeah, I'm sure that we'll get another Starfox game in the future and very likely on the NX. Obviously not anytime soon and we'll have to get used to what we have now for Zero. As for Krystal, I'm sure Nintendo is aware of her existence and the fanbase she has like you and me who love her as a character. Which means that we'll see her in future entries of the series since she has already established herself in the franchise and she is there to stay. I'm hoping that if Platinum Games gets involved again with the next entry in the series, that they take full control over it. Besides, Hashimoto,(director of SF Zero and Bayonetta 2) did say that he would love to work on the sequel to Zero and he did say that he will bring Krystal in the next entry after it). ^^

Ditto. I was really hoping it would be alright. I can't complain about the graphics, but i will complain about the copy paste missions from the N64. I will also shit talk the controls. As far as Krystal goes, i wish they would develop her character more then just the love interest. Assault is awesome, they need another one like that.

tbh i thought star fox zero was awesome, it's not a laughing stock (amazing soundtrack, good graphics, need i say more?)
i had no problem with the controls either, though a new story would've been nice

also i think krystal is better off in sauria than in the star fox team. i've just felt that she's more at home in sauria, since its pretty much her home world. i mean i think she would be better if they worked on her story a bit, and not have her just for the sole purpose of being a love interest for fox.

Well I think the opposite of part of your opinion. Although yes the soundtrack is good and graphics and models are nice there are things I have a problem with. Krystal is better off as the love interest and capable fighter as a member of Star Fox.

The new vehicle ideas were good. Motion controls should be optional not forced up on us.Seems to me that Neither Katt Monroe nor Kyrstal really get much of a role in the games. Honestly I would rate assault & adventures as my 2 faves in starfox because you could actually do something outside of the vehicles with the characters. I would like to see more new content & games not just the same old story. The invulnerability mode also a bit much imo I mean seriously theres help then there is just killing the challenge entirely. If they wanted to help us how about making it so the vehicles had a gradually regenerating health bar instead.

I agree with Adventures and Assault as the 2 favs in Star Fox. And you know, funny thing about Invulnerability mode, I do a journal entry on Star Fox to point out ideas, concept, and suggestions for the next game. Invulnerability is kinda 1 of those ideas (It's kinda like Hero mode in the Jak and Daxter sequels) smashfan1367.deviantart.com/jo…
Another thing is that I did 1 new vehicle concept: smashfan1367.deviantart.com/ar…

Star Fox Zero's failure is Miyamoto's fault, Platinum should have had more control over the game's development, Miyamoto seems to think that all games should have the Mario and Zelda formula, of the same story every time, I for one don't subscribe to that notion, yes some familiarity is good, but not when it's the same game with fresh coat of paint added, it was the gaming equivalent of putting a NASCAR engine in a minivan, it's still a minivan, It's a shame because Platinum could have made something special, In fact Miyamoto hasn't really had any fresh new idea that's actually good since Pikmin 1, Nintendo most innovative new IP since then, Splatoon, Miyamoto had very little involvement in. Miyamoto has lost his touch, it's unfortunately the natural order of things, Miyamoto needs to retire, he's not the vibrant creative mind he once was, and has more bad ideas than good ideas nowadays

Here's my ideaHere's what I'd have in a new Star Fox game:
Command would be retconned, and the game would take place after Assault A movie quality story, and branching dialouge like Mass Effect or Fallout 4, also explaining character backstories more, Space combat levels have been taken off rails (it's a dying genre) Upgradable weapons and craft A slightly edgier storyline New enemies Different story options (I.e Fox's story, Falco's story, Krystal's story, Star Wolf, etc.) that show the story from another character's perspective and telling their origin stories, they are unlocked after beating the previous story Some team based elements On foot combat returns, but is slightly slower paced, you can switch between 1st and 3rd person views, oh and you can now aim with all weapons (AKA all weapons have iron sights) Online multiplayer with Voice Chat Local Multiplayer
Hidden Lore about Lylat is discoverable based on missions
Team Based Gameplay
Also the story is supposed to be slightly more serious then past games, also gone is the Cheesy dialogue and bad voice acting of past games, replaced with serious dialouge with some humor thrown in. Also gone is the old puppet visuals, replaced with realistic characters.
The different stories also provide backstory
(Fyi: By serious, I mean less campy)
The Great Fox (or Sargasso) would serve as an interactive hub world in between missions, with different characters that provide a useful purpose, (Krystal would use her telepathic abilites to provide intel, Slippy would upgrade weapons and vehicles and develop new vehicles and weapons, and Falco would allow you to train and hone your skills via simulated training).
Character personalities and traits
Fox: Heroic, a Great leader, slightly sarcastic, and slightly cocky
Falco: Sarcastic and arrogant, yet still cares about Fox
Krystal: Calm, collected, level headed, and very compassionate
Slippy: Slightly nerdy, Technical Genius, Doesn't have the best bladder control (played for comic relief)
Peppy: Wise, mature, slightly senile
On foot missions:
Each character has a different playstyle for on foot (Fox plays like Gears of War or Mass Effect, Krystal has gameplay like Star Fox: Adventures)

Though there are on foot missions, the main focus of the game is Aerial combat
The game can be divided up into percentages
Arwing Combat: 75% (bread butter padt of the series)
On foot: 15%
Landmaster: 5%
Blue Marine: 5%
Oh and Slippy is not a pilot, he's in an Otacon-type role,
The active flight roster is:
Fox, Falco, Krystal, Miyu

That's quite an idea of yours. Here's my ideas I mentioned you can find in my gallery. If you have yet to see it, check it out and let me know what you think. Anyway...
1) Is an Fox and Krystal wedding / new battle with new enemy game.
2) Is Krystal's home world destruction on Cerinia in flashback.
3) Is a trilogy with part 1 traveling to another system on a search and rescue, but also getting involve with a war of robots, and the other 2 parts are here and there in Lylat and the other system.

I know that the Arwing gameplay is so important to the series, but I like to see a lot more on-foot action (kinda like what Assault did) since Star Fox is more of a shooter type series to me.

I'm sure you're old enough to remember when Command came out, right? And if you were like me, you were pretty damn excited for it. But all it was was a polished version of 64 with a few quirks and gimmicks. And let me tell you, I could play 64 and get the same amount of entertainment and more. And to this day, Command lives in infamy. Think about it
